Robert DeNiro Will Return for Midnight Run 2

Robert DeNiro is back, baby! Uh… well, sort of, that is. Deadline.com reports that DeNiro and his production company Tribeca Productions are in the process of putting together a sequel to his 1988 comedy Midnight Run. In the original, directed by Martin Brest (Beverly Hills Cop), DeNiro played a bounty hunter on the trail of a former mafia accountant (Charles Grodin) who jumps bail.
Grodin is now retired from acting so clearly DeNiro will be tracking down someone else… and I’m going to guess it will be a woman. It certainly seems like this sequel may be inspired by the upcoming Jennifer Aniston / Gerard Butler film The Bounty Hunter (well, either that or the popularity of Dog The Bounty Hunter). The script will be written by Tim Dowling, however, who also wrote Role Models, which sounds promising. What do you think, will this be DeNiro’s return to glory after a decade of disappointing career choices? What was the last good Robert DeNiro movie anyway?
