Original Cast to Return for American Pie 4?

Did you know that there have been seven American Pie movies to date? It’s true, although the last four of those were direct-to-DVD releases that focused on new characters only loosely connected to the original cast (ie. Stifler’s cousins). Strange as it might seem, the sequels are still making enough money that Universal Pictures will not be giving up on the franchise anytime soon. In fact, it sounds like there is enough interest that they may even be contemplating another full-blown theatrical feature, with some of the original cast members reportedly interested in returning.
According to the Los Angeles Times, Universal has hired Harold and Kumar writers Jon Hurwitz and Hayden Schlossberg to pen a new installment in the American Pie series. They are calling it “American Pie 4″, but it remains to be seen if this would be a sequel or a reboot… or both. I suppose it would depend on how many original cast members return, but they obviously couldn’t bring it back to high school, unless they pull a Degrassi and decide to make some of them teachers.
Either way, there’s at least one actor who will definitely return, no questions asked: Eugene Levy, who starred in all of the DTV sequels as well. Jason Biggs also hasn’t done much since American Wedding and would probably be willing to return. Alyson Hannigan, however, is doing well with How I Met Your Mother, and Seann William Scott seems to have the most successful movie career at the moment. Would you like to see this characters back together on the big screen again?
