This Week on DVD: Law Abiding Citizen, Black Dynamite, Hunger

dvdfeb16_10

We’ve got a fairly short list of DVD releases for you this week, but the good news is that some of them are pretty worthwhile! The only major mainstream release is the thriller Law Abiding Citizen starring Gerard Butler and Jamie Foxx, but also hitting stores today is the long-awaited blaxploitation spoof Black Dynamite, the Coco Before Chanel biopic starring Audrey Tautou, and the enjoyable Chris Rock documentary Good Hair. On the direct to DVD front there is Ti West’s Cabin Fever 2: Spring Fever, and on the box set front, there is the massive Clint Eastwood: 35 Years, 35 Movies collection from Warner Brothers. All this, plus a handful of Criterion and StudioCanal releases, and the 20th Anniversary edition of Goodfellas on Blu-ray. Are you picking up anything this week?

Everyone needs to check out Hunger. There’s a dialogue scene in the middle with Michael Fassbender that blew my fuckin’ mind! Instantly made him one of my favourite actors working right now.

i actually thought Hunger was really underwhelming, and it seems even those who love it agree its a movie you only watch once.

  • ..yes Hanger is not the easiest movie to watch.. And you can only see it once.
But it is a must watch 4me.. Especially if you hate imperialistic Britain.
There is some good acting and i loved the fact that the movie practically just throws you inside a messed up situation without bothering to explain any political background whatsoever or preach anything..

    One might say…

”It is what it is mate” ..This is what happened if you don’t like reality go see Avatar or smthng

(ok maybe there is a bit preachiness here and there but is based on the brutality of the image not the dialog)
