Get Him to the Greek Trailer Starring Russell Brand and Jonah Hill

It’s been a crazy few years for Judd Apatow, having directed, written and/or produced over 15 comedies since 2005, but he seems to be slowing down his output as of late, and being a little more careful about the projects he attaches his name to. The only Apatow movie planned for release this year (so far, anyway) is the Forgetting Sarah Marshall spin-off, Get Him to the Greek. Jason Segel is not involved in this particular flick, but it is written and directed by Forgetting Sarah Marshall director Nicholas Stoller.

The movie revolves around Russell Brand’s character Aldous Snow, a British rock star who lives life to the fullest. Jonah Hill is record label lackey Aaron Greenberg (not the same guy he played in Forgetting Sarah Marshall) who is sent to deliver Snow to a concert at the Greek Theater in Los Angeles. Various hijinx ensue. Watching the first trailer for Get Him to the Greek, it doesn’t seem to have the same emotional hook or quality of supporting cast as Forgetting Sarah Marshall, but I guess that’s to expected for a spin-off. Judging by the cast list, it seems to rely on a lot of celebrity cameos, which could be a bad thing. Either way, I think both Brand and Hill are very watchable, and I’ll definitely give this a chance. What do you think? Check out the trailer after the jump, or watch it in HD over at Get Him to the Greek hits theatres on June 4th.

  • Kyriacos

    it looks watchable.. i guess..

  • Mason

Jonah Hill is not playing the same character, but it’s set in the same universe as FSM? That will be confusing to many people…unless they establish that he’s a twin brother.

  • They seem to be glossing over the fact that it’s set in the same universe as FSM, probably for that very reason. And also because none of the other characters make an appearance.

  • Napalm

    Looks like shit.

  • Mel

Hmmm, they seem to have changed the character too much for my liking, just to get laughs.

I liked Brand as the zen figure in FSM, to have him drink and do drugs is to far off.

  • Fatbologna

I think the zen thing was supposed to be a douchey celebrity faze he was going through in that film.

regardless, this looks kinda lame. I guess we’ll see…

  • @Mason,

Directors re-use people within the same universe all the time. It’s not confusing. Bruce Campbell was in all thre Spider-Man movies, and he was a different character every time. It wasn’t confusing in the least, so this will be fine, especially considering that the last role was a bit part.

  • AHunt

Puff Daddy is good never. Aside from that I would probably catch this at some point and get some lazy amusement.

  • Joey

    You mean amusement lazy? =D

  • It looks okay, I think it will either be one of those films thats decent to watch and you’ll get a few laughs or one that you end up shutting off because its not funny at all. I’ll go with the first. I’m interested to see Brand and Jonah together and how it plays out.
