2009 Razzie Awards: Transformers and G.I. Joe Fight for Inferiority

2009razzies

Oscar’s ugly little stepbrother Razzie announced his nominations this week for the worst movies and performances of 2009, and let’s just say there’s no shortage of stuff to choose from. The Golden Raspberry Awards are, of course, the annual awards that mock and ridicule all of the terrible blockbusters that we are forced to sit through in a year, and among the biggest offenders this year we have Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, Land of the Lost, G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra, and Twilight Saga: New Moon. Transformers and Land of the Lost lead the pack with seven nominations each.

In an interesting twist, it seems that Sandra Bullock is nominated for Worst Actress for her performance in All About Steve, which means she might actually have a shot at winning both Best Actress at the Oscars and Worst Actress at the Razzies in the same year. Now that’s an achievement! This year the Golden Raspberry Award Foundation also decided to create categories for the worst of the decade as well. Check out the full list of nominees after the jump, and let us know if you agree with them, or if you think there were other far worse flicks that deserve to be recognized for their ineptitude.

    LAME
razzies are always so boring and predictable.
they need to be controversial if they want things to be interesting … why not dig deep for some bad films

hehe .. but i like “trannies too” i thought it was a real movie and was surprised i missed it .. sounds pretty fun .. then i saw it was short for transformers two and felt let down

  • AlexG

if they want a controversial move, the avatar screenplay could have been nominated. the film’s great special effects couldn’t distract me from the ham-fisted exposition, barely sketched-out characters and plot contrivances (two words: red dragon). plus, i was always going to be rooting for the humans over the giant blue cats anyway.

  • Razzieman

Agree, it is getting a little boring. I like the idea of the Razzies, but finding bad movies is too easy. I think they need to spice it up a bit. Really rip into the movie industry for wasting our time and cash. Getting a Colbert or someone to “Flame” these movies? More categories? Worst kiss? Worst dialogue? Worst use of slow motion?

  • Jonathan

I’m ticked that Rob Zombie didn’t get nominated for his abortion of a Halloween sequel, but Transformers 2 is definitely well deserved. I actually kind of liked GI Joe though because of how bad it was, but I understand why it was nominated.

  • Dexter

Seriously, missing “Year One” from any category was a crime, it was the worst thing ever to come out of 2009.

And yes, death to Avatar. They’re p*ssies for not nominating The Hangover or The Proposal which I loved but thought they were easy targets for these awards, same goes to Wolverine.

And yes Razzies WE GET IT, you hate Jlo, Lohan and Paris Hilton but get over them please.

  • pcch7

I´m actually a little bit disappointed that they have Sienna Miller on the worst actress list

  • blah

nominate “bad leiutenant 2″ or “antichrist” for worst films of the year
i love both herzog and von trier (even have his tshirt) … but these movies were the real dissapointments of the year to me

c’mon … everyone knew transformers and gijoe were gonna suck before they bought their tickets

  • blah

and maybe im a kenny powers & a stepbrothers fanboy which makes me forgive alot … but land of the lost was alot of fun
