I would love to get my hands on whatever Sean was smoking when he watched the Sorcerer’s Apprentice trailer. Greg is totally right, that flick looks terrible. I’m also all for the clipshow, but shouldn’t episode 250 be a live podcast?

Also Jay, in response to you saying there must be a Rocky joke in The Simpsons. How could you forget this great line – “Rocky II + Rocky V = Rocky VII: Adrian’s Revenge.”

    Great show as always.

SEAAAANN!!! why you did not upload the podcast on iTunes yet!!?

  • Maximus

In other news: John Campea ended the movieblog. Thank god. Hope this will increase your readership and that the new readers will finaly appreciate what good film-blogging is

  • Henrik

I am loving the theme songs. You should load all of them up in a zipfile along with the clip show as a christmas gift.

  • “In other news: John Campea ended the movieblog.” wow, it is gone. what a relief, those guys were assholes. I hope to hear Jay’s victory lap, but I imagine he will just be satisfied the universe got one right.

  • Goon

I wonder if Jay had seen City of God earlier it would be on our concensus list…

  • rjdelight

Yeah, City of God really does deserve to be on the best of the decade list.

  • Napalm

will next week’s show be live?

  • Kurt

City of God is most definitely one of the best of the decade. Likely in the top 5 even.

  • If Jay had seen City of God earlier, it probably would have knocked out the movie that actually ended up being our #9 pick, strangely enough. However, #9 is a movie that Greg strongly lobbied for, and I don’t know if he’s seen City of God so it would have been debatable either way.

I’ll let everyone guess what #9 is until Thursday.

  • Napalm: I’m not sure if we’ll go live for the next episode. If we can arrange everything far enough in advance, I’ll put up a post and let everyone know.

  • Always a pleasure to listen to, and for the record, I don’t think Tommy Morrison is dead. At least he’s not listed as such on either IMDB or Wikipedia.

    HEHEH… :)

I know you don’t give a fuck but i am glad you liked Rocky. I own the BlueRay collection as well but i believe Rocky 5 is not THAAT bad.. if you pass off the fact that Tommy Gun can’t act i believe Rocky 5 is a decent installment to the franchise..

Also i liked that rocky loved Boxing and T-Gun more than his own Son..

i mean.. whats the big deal about some fucking pair of shorts anyway..

Rocky’s kid turn out be a duchebag after-all..

Imagine him wearing Rockies shorts while trying to bang a fat chick..

    ”Thats my Dads short”..

  • Morrison has AIDS but he isn’t dead.

  • KYriakos

TAxi Driver had some groundbreaking camera moves..

ofcource The scene at the end..

And the scene when Deniro speaks to the phone and the camera moves away from him and focus on an empty hall..

    What a great movie..

  • Falsk

    Ugh. 日本語 for the fail…

  • I’m a little behind, but here goes…

Jay, couldn’t agree more about the Rocky stuff. It sounds like we’re on the exact same page. I have mini-arguments about those movies all of the time trying to defend them. Stallone is the ONLY guy who can do Rocky. People all the time try to impersonate the character and it never works. That says a lot about the acting ability of Stallone in my opinion.

As for cool shots… You mentioned the Boogie Nights opening shot already (one of my favorites of all time). But there’s another shot in that movie when Floyd Gondolli (Philip Baker Hall) walk into the party and the shot sort of echoes like three times in a row. It’s an awesome character introduction.

Also in the movie Contact, when the girl is running up the stairs (after her dad collapses), the camera tracks her face from the front as she runs around the corner, up the stairs, around another corner and then down a hallway. As she gets to the medicine cabinet, you realize that you’ve been watching her reflection in the medicine cabinet the whole time – which of course is impossible since she went around corners and up stairs, etc. It’s an impressive shot that I’m not sure how it was accomplished… a clever and seamless cut somewhere I imagine.

Then of course there’s the tracking shot on the beach in Atonement. That’s impressive if only for the choreography going on in that scene. Wow.
