As reported by Cinematical, in a rather uninteresting and bleak article from Variety about the future releases of The Weinstein Co., there is casually thrown in the info that Neve Campbell will star in Scream IV alongside the already announced franchise stars Courteney Cox and David Arquette. But wait, this is odd… up until now Campbell has been very much against this fourth film and has refused to sign on for anything (not even a tiny cameo of her getting killed, nada) even though screenwriter Kevin Williamson has been begging and pleading, having her already written into the plot of the movie.

I guess anyone can have a change of heart. Perhaps Williamson’s begging helped, or perhaps the big fat paycheck got a little bigger? No matter what, if this is true, then it is good news for the movie. Now they just need to get Wes Craven back and it’ll be Scream all over again, only with middle aged victims, woo! Let’s party like it’s 1996! What do you think, will Scream IV be another dud like the third, or will this “new trilogy” be a success?
