Jessica Biel in Talks to Join The A-Team

With the earlier confirmation of Rampage Jackson’s involvement in The A-Team movie, and the trades now verifying that District 9‘s Sharlto Copley is indeed on the verge of signing to play Murdock, the team is now complete. However, it appears that there is still at least one other major casting announcement to add to the mix. It goes without saying that every decent action movie needs a hot chick to draw in male audiences, and according to Variety, The A-Team is about to land Jessica Biel to fill that position. I guess with all the money they’re saving on Jackson and Copley, they can actually afford to bring in an A-list actress.

While one might assume that Biel would be playing reporter Amy Amanda Allen, who appeared in the first couple of seasons of the TV show, it looks like she won’t be playing an existing character at all. She is vaguely being described as the “ex-love of Cooper’s character Faceman” and also “the general pursuing the team”. Does this mean they’re turning the character of General Fullbright into a woman? I’m not really familiar enough with The A-Team to speculate further, but it does sound a bit odd. Either way, I’m sure Biel’s involvement will sell plenty of tickets. What do you think about the casting of The A-Team? Is the movie shaping up to be a hit or miss?

  • I never liked her as much as the next guy but I’m not an assman. If she is in the project the plot will be developed as a bunch of guys following her around looking at her ass, i.e., The A-Team.

    Sean, there’s nothing about the A-Team that you need to be familiar with. We ain’t talking about the Wire here. Basically there are a bunch of military police chasing after the A-Team and in each episode they get foiled again. I find it extremely unlikely that Jessica’s possible character would have anything to do with the MP’s. If that happens, the movie would lose all credibility, not that it had much to begin with, but it’d have a little. It’s more likely that she would play a love interest. AAA came off as more of a fifth member of the team, one of the boys so to speak. Her character wasn’t portrayed as an outright sex object, and the actress playing her, while attractive, was nothing like what Biel is. Now if they were casting for AAA for the movie, of course she’d be better looking than the TV actress, but Biel doesn’t seem to fit. So her possible character would have to be someone new.
