Weekly Poll Results: Best Revenge Flick

pollresultsrevenge

Revenge is, as the Klingons say, a dish that is best served cold. I’m not exactly sure what relation that has to last week’s poll about revenge films except to say that Quentin Tarantino’s Kill Bill placed second, right behind Chan-wook Park’s Oldboy. Tony Scott’s Man on Fire was at #3, followed by Once Upon a Time in the West and The Crow. I’m a bit surprised that The Last House on the Left placed dead last, but with so many other great choices I guess it was just outclassed. Do you agree with these results?

1. Oldboy — 26.9%
2. Kill Bill — 25.8%
3. Man on Fire — 12.1%
4. Once Upon a Time in the West — 9.6%
5. The Crow — 8.3%
6. Straw Dogs — 4.1%
6. Death Wish — 4.1%
8. Payback — 3.6%
8. I Spit on Your Grave — 3.6%
10. The Last House on the Left — 1.8%

  • Wither The Bride Wore Black, Mad Max, Get Carter, The Limey and Point Blank? Also, Memento is sort of a revenge picture in its own way…

  • Henry

I know it’s new, but Taken should have been in the poll imo.

  • Teo

surprised by man on fire…that movie wasn’t at all good – i guess as a revenge movie its ok but still it was dull

  • Phun

Problem with Last house on the left and I spit on your grave is that noone has seen them. Not compared to hollywood blockbusters anyway.

    1. once upon a time in the west

I actually like Lady Vengeance more than Oldboy, but I know I’m in the minority. Most like that one the least of the three.

  • Chris

joe, I agree with that too.

out of the ones they listed, my order is like this…

1.Kill Bill (9-10/10) (‘as a revenge flick’ , i think this gets the edge over my #2. but in general i like my #2 over this)
2.Once Upon A Time In The West (1968) (10/10) (a masterpiece. i put this slightly lower than Kill Bill mainly because ‘as a revenge flick’ i think it’s worse than Kill Bill. but movie in general i would place it a little higher.)
    3.Man on Fire (2004) (8/10)
    4.Payback (8/10)
    5.Oldboy (7-8/10)
    6.Death Wish (7-8/10)

    7.The Crow (6-7/10)

the other three i have not seen but i dont think it’s likely that any of those would get any higher than 5th tops. (the numbers next to the film is the rating out of 10 i gave the films in general)
