Weekly Movie Poster Round-Up: Gentlemen Broncos, Extract, A Serious Man

gentlemenbroncosposter

Time to take a look at some of the new posters that were released over the past week or so. A handful of these movies are ones I’m really looking forward to (others, not so much). I’m hoping that the first official poster from Jared Hess’s Gentlemen Broncos means that a trailer isn’t far off since I’m expecting big things from Jemaine of Flight of the Conchords fame. Some other upcoming comedies with new posters include Mike Judge’s Extract, Trailer Park Boys 2 and All About Steve (arguably, not actually a comedy, judging by that poster).

The new one sheet for The Coen Brothers’ A Serious Man is a little bit bland, but the one for Joe Dante’s 3-D film The Hole has me intrigued. We also have our first look at Law Abiding Citizen, the upcoming thriller starring Jamie Foxx and Gerard Butler. Which ones are your favourites? Check out the rest after the jump.

The Blood Drive posters for Saw are always top notch stuff.
The Extract poster looks terrible and All About Steve continues a popular trend in comedy movie posters, check Year One, Funny People and I love You Man. A trend that was started with 40 Year Old Virgin I think.
    The rest are so so.

  • I like how Ken Jeong is on the poster for All About Steve but his name is not. It seems like they decided to Photoshop him in at the last minute.

  • Henrik

Great job with the billings on All About Steve though.

I really like the “Art and Copy” poster.
The “Law Abiding Citizen” poster is cool but the title gets a little lost because of the words that are larger in size on the poster. If the other poster was not underneath the first one – I would think the movie was called “Justice at any cost”

I am looking forward to Law Abiding Citizen the most, but not crazy about these new posters.

Since Gerard Butler plays the subject (and once) Law Abiding Citizen, I’d like to see his face prominent and Jamie Fox so in the background and some different tag lines (not superimposed on the head).

All About Steve poster is fine and so is the Halloween one very clever (although I’m not interested in the Halloween movie itself).

    Whiteout poster also good.

  • “Gentlemen Broncos” is way too kitschy for its own good. I know nothing of the film itself, but the poster is atrocious.

I wouldn’t call the A Serious Man poster bland. I think what sets it apart from these other posters is that it doesn’t look like some graphic designer’s photoshop orgasm. The fact that it is so simple and low key make it catching. And the subtle border gives it a sort of classic 1970s aesthetic.

Maybe I’m other-thinking this, but I’m very impressed by it.

  • The Blood Drive one is good but ultimately fails because I thought it was for a Halloween remake?

  • ProjectGenesis

I’m just excited Joe Dante is teaming up with Bruce Dern again. Last time that happened comedy history was made with The Burbs.

I love the Saw VI one. They are always great at making posters though.
