I'm pretty sure being that both films were so close to production that one can't really rip the other off as ELI was probably done principal photography by the time T4 hit theaters. It's common to have that washed out look when dealing with desert photography. You can't fault the film just for it's aesthetic style not being to your particular liking. Just as I can't say everyone will love it because I like the style. It runs to MY particular tastes and I think there's a lot of genre fans out there who will be excited by this. So far the teaser seems to be getting pretty positive feedback everywhere I've seen it presented.

In regards to it looking like a video game...it doesn't. In terms of story, genre and overall tone it FEELS like Fallout which in turn was just an epic amalgamation of MANY great Post-apoc standbys. I don't think the general public is going to associate it with a video game. I do however think that people who've played the Fallout games and love Post-apocalyptic EVERYTHING are going to eat this shit up and ask for seconds.

I was talking about the extreme flashed film of T4 causing the palette to go silver and grey offset with intense orange and yellows of the explosions - this film is a direct copy of T4 in that regard.

Things that cut "through the clutter":

-Grizzled Denzel Washington
-Hughes Bros! (sure From Hell was a bit of a misstep but they're allowed one because Dead Presidents and M2S were so good).
-The fact that IT LOOKS LIKE FALLOUT!
-Post-Apocalyptic goodness
-It's got Fuckin' Raiders!
-The fact that IT LOOKS LIKE FALLOUT! WOOHOO!
-Gary Oldman... 'nuff said
-Looks like Fallout.
-Ray Stevenson's cool.

So yeah, looks good. Like Fallout.

The Road will most definitely be the greater film. I've read the book and the trailers look dead on. But I'm surely not gonna turn down 2 films in one of my favorite genres in the same year. Especially not 2 films by great directors at higher budgets than this type of film usually gets. I think this'll be far superior to T4 in every way. I liked T4, but you can't say that the style of visuals in that film originated within it. Mad Max is pretty much the gold standard for this type of flick and this feels more Mad Max than T4 to me.

I think this movie will do well. I'll definitely be there opening weekend.

why?

CUZ IT LOOKS LIKE FALLOUT! WOOOHOOO!

@ Fatbologna - my thoughts EXACTLY dude!!! In fact, I saw the trailer before it was here on Filmjunk and followed the link here just to post about it... The first few shots in this trailer remind me so much of Fallout 3 it's scary... Really looking forward to this, but I suspect The Road will be the better film, but only cos it's got Cormack behind it, and because it'll be different... This looks like more of an action romp - definitely a Fallout-y type setting :)

Between this and The Road my wishes for a Fallout movie are the closest to being answered they'll probably ever be. This looks really freakin' sweet! I'm such a sucker for post-apocalypse flicks!
