    Best. Picture. Ever.

  • RJ

Please, please post the unedited Reed podcast. I don’t think I’m alone in wanting this.

Also, good idea to bring Doug back for the G.I. Joe review. Can’t wait!

  • Goon

    Muppet nerd fact alert:

Henson’s son only did Kermit for a very short time and not for any actual TV or movies. Steve Whitmire, who has been with the Henson company forever, took over. Brian Henson has though, taken over a couple of Richard Hunt’s characters, like Scooter, since Hunt died in 1992.

Henson’s best voice work is probably as the grandma on “Dinosaurs”

TV shows FilmJunk needs to watch:

    The Wire
    The Mighty Boosh
    Breaking Bad

  • Jay, congrats on the financing/producing partner.

  • Raph

I agree with posting the unedited Reed podcast.

    And congrats Jay.

I think Greg is wrong about the dates for Fanboy Favourites. According to the Empire website, it is this weekend.

  • Strange, according to the Facebook message they sent out a couple of weeks ago, it is Fri. July 31st and Sat. August 1st. But you’re right, it’s listed for this Friday the 24th on their website.

We’ll have to double check with them to get the scoop.

    Great show this week guys!

I’m really glad you’re showing The Hurt Locker some love as I personally think it’s the best war film to come out of the Iraq conflict. This and Generation Kill are the truest and most unbiased representations of that war due to the unflinching portrayal of soldiers just doing their jobs.
I’ve always admired Bigelow’s action films and consider her to be one of the more consistent female directors and surely my personal favorite female director. She definitely holds her own with the big boys of 80s/90s action directors and has proved better staying power than the likes of Renny Harlin, John McTiernan, Richard Donner etc.

BTW, A movie that made me REALLY hungry was Ravenous! MAN THAT PEOPLE-STEW NEAR THE END LOOKED DELICIOUS!

In regards to Jay’s youtube meanderings: I completely understand! The avenues that you end up treading are a slippery slope to the darker side of humanity. It’s generally on a leisurely Sunday afternoon after the wank-bank’s been looted and you’re too lazy to watch a whole movie that the trouble happens. One click leads to another and you’re watching two-girls-one-cup or looking at an old man modelling little girl’s clothing in high heels or downloading the August Underground trilogy on bittorrent. As far as hard viewing goes I’d like to hear your guys’ thoughts on MARTYRS or INSIDE.
Are you guys into the French/Euro horror new wave?

I wonder: Does viewing the number of Docs that you guys do end up tainting your world-view? I watch a lot of docs and true-life (NOT REALITY) television and I find that I’m numb to human cruelty and just have an overall hatefully negative view of mankind. You can only see so many examples of the bad shit people, corporations and governments do to people before it makes you realize that humans are BAD! I still happen to be a pretty upbeat dude though…weird. Maybe knowing that we’re on a downhill slope to the great nothing lightens the soul!

Anyway, once again: Great show! Keep up the good work!

You guys are definitely the most consistent and evenly toned Podcast out there and I always enjoy your efforts.

I’m also really looking forward to hearing the new Movie Club Podcast!

I turned off Deliver Us From Evil 10 minutes in. I spent the first 10 minutes thinking to myself: “Do I really want to see this?” I decided I did not need to see it.

  • Fatbologna

Yeah, that one’s rough. It doesn’t reveal anything most people didn’t already know/suspect, but the devil’s in the details so to speak.

  • I’m glad I’m not the only perv who noticed that Emma Watson’s breasts are larger in the new movie.

Also, I died laughing upon hearing about wetsoldier.

  • Henrik

“Maybe knowing that we’re on a downhill slope to the great nothing lightens the soul! ”

Fatbologna, you sound like a nihilist!

  • Dave

That statement may have been nihilist but overall he comes off as more of a misanthrope.

  • Fatbologna

I like to think of myself as a nihilistic misanthrope with a good sense of irony thrown into the mix. I had a smirk on my face as I wrote that statement. ;)

  • Falsk

I didn’t realize there was a “Phillip Morris” trailer out. Just saw it on YouTube.

My God… there are going to be so many angry Jim Carrey fans. So many… I can hear the flame wars starting now. x__x

  • ToeFu

    @ Henrik..

I’ve had Deliver Us From Evil in my Netflix queue for a while and now I’m motivated to watch it just to see if it will disturb me. I’m sure impure adult adoration for kiddos will bother me more than the constant woman face punching that littered Martyrs.

I also agree that animal cruelty is difficult to stomach. I can watch a man get a fist sized hole introduced to their chest via a hand cannon no problem but if a cute kitten even gets petted the wrong way I’m calling foul.

  • The people needs unedited Reed.

  • modesilver

  • Jay’s the one who groomed Reed Farrington’s “success.” Without Jay’s judicious editing, I’m just another no talent blowhard miscreant.

And as far as the hostages go, modesilver, kill them all! Ha ha. (Fatbologna and I are forming SNM – Society for Nihilist Misanthropes. Let anal anarchy rule!)
