Predator was ace.

If I could remember the name of it, I saw an alien movie when I was little, 90% of it was set in a newsroom, and at the end the aliens invade the newsreaders start crying.

Ring any bells?

From your list, I would have voted for War of the Worlds (2005). I thought it was the most realistic. I liked Tom Cruise’s character of being the everyman who’s trying to hold his family together through the whole thing.

“The Thing” doesn’t satisfy Sean’s criteria for the invasion list because there was only one alien. It sort of doesn’t make sense that there would only be one alien, but we only saw one alien. And I don’t think we really know that the alien was invading rather than just having “crash landed” on Earth. A reason why the alien caused havoc on the base may be because it was just trying to survive.

Good point on the thing and I’m surprised that “ID” ranked so high. Still scratching my head on that one. Now off topic a bit… I would rather see the Thing remake be a miniseries kind of like “band of brothers”! In-fact that would be a cool time for the story to take place – In the past. I think a miniseries would work better because you could spend more time getting to know the characters and wonder who is really still them as the story unfolds.

Don’t even start me on M. Night, he made a couple of decent movies and it was all down hill from then (although i do think the village is a bit underrated).
I love Body Snatchers and Sutherland Sr in it, but my second choice would’ve been They Live too, such a great, campy-fun film.

They Live – Fantastic.

Signs is one of the worst movies ever made. It is totally preposterous. A super-advanced alien civilization comes to earth to kidnap local organisms (us) but are foiled by… water.

Yes. Water.

Which is especially dangerous because THE ALIENS DONT WEAR CLOTHES. And apparently neglected to do even the smallest amount of research necesarry to deduce that 80% of the friggin planet they are invading is covered in, what? WATER.

Yes, the super-advanced alien species criss-corssing the globe and abducting creatures from planets across the solar-system, presumably for thousands (millions) of years, is defeated by a 6 year old with a glass of water.

I think Independence Day would be an obvious choice for alien invasion favourite, however it’s a pretty annoying cheese filled movie with tons of unbelievable American patriot bullshit. Predator is much more entertaining fiction and has much better one liners. MAAAAAAAAACK!
