First Photo from Wes Anderson’s Fantastic Mr. Fox

Well there’s not a heck of a lot to say about this as of yet, but the good folks over at JoBlo managed to score the very first image from Wes Anderson’s upcoming animated film, Fantastic Mr. Fox. I’ve been pretty interested in this project seeing as it is Anderson’s first attempt at adapting someone else’s work, but also because it will use stop motion animation. I guess that’s the thing about this image though: it actually just looks like CG. To be fair, the picture is pretty small, so it’s hard to make out much in the way of detail.
Based on the children’s book by Roald Dahl, the movie’s voice cast includes George Clooney and Meryl Streep as Mr. and Mrs. Fox, plus a who’s who of previous Wes Anderson collaborators that include Owen Wilson, Bill Murray, Adrien Brody, Jason Schwartzman, Anjelica Huston and Roman Coppola (among others). Henry Selick was originally supposed to do the animation for this movie but ended up leaving to do Coraline instead; his replacement is Mark Gustafson (The PJs). Fantastic Mr. Fox is due to hit theatres on November 13th, 2009, but considering this is our first glimpse of the film, I’m wondering if it’s slightly behind schedule. What do you think, are you looking forward to this film?
