Weekly Movie Poster Round-up: Youth in Revolt, Big Fan, Thirst, Sherlock Holmes

We’re relatively big fans of graphic design here at Film Junk, so aside from our bilingual DVD rants, I’ve been meaning to cover more movie posters on the site. From here on in I will try to make a weekly post collecting some of the new and noteworthy posters that have been released online, and I’ll leave it to you to either debate their merits or simply gaze at them longingly.

This week some of the new posters that have debuted include Youth in Revolt (pictured above), which very clearly stars Michael Cera, Robert Siegel’s Big Fan starring Patton Oswalt, Chan-wook Park’s Thirst, and Guy Ritchie’s Sherlock Holmes, among others. Check out the rest after the jump.

I like the Youth… poster, it gets an indie look across without resorting to the hand drawn font look that is now so played out.

I like the youth in revolt poster. It reminds me of those books I used to read when I was a kid, like Beverly Cleary stuff.

And I want to see thirst.

Daybreakers poster reminds me a lot of 28 Days Later posters. I thought it was Stephen Tyler of the Pandorum poster.

Ugh. I don’t know. I think the one of the best movie posters I’ve seen recently (I’ll admit I’m becoming an old man here) is the one for The Matrix: Reloaded that was a medium shot of Agent Smith in mid action cutting off his head and feet.
