Harrison Ford is the Highest Paid Actor

harrisonfordhighestpaid

Every year Forbes puts together a list of the highest-paid actors in Hollywood, and while it’s not usually all that insightful or surprising, I suppose it is an indication of what actors are currently given the most value by both studios and moviegoers alike. Of course, it also has a lot to do with the date range they choose to measure, which in this case is June 2008 to June 2009. This gives a distinct advantage to anyone who had two major films released within that timespan.

This year, Harrison Ford came out of the woodwork to land the highest total salary with $65 million — thanks to (what else?) Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. That’s kind of an anomaly since Ford doesn’t have much else to back him up. Adam Sandler and Will Smith, on the other hand, are both used to being on top, and their movies generated $55 million and $45 million respectively. Will Ferrell apparently had one of the biggest drops this year, falling all the way to #20 on the list (and with the disappointing performance of Land of the Lost, it seems that his stock continues to plummet). Check out the full top 20 after the jump. Is there anyone here who seems out of place on this list?

1. Harrison Ford — $65 million
2. Adam Sandler — $55 million
3. Will Smith — $45 million

Eddie Murphy and Jim Carrey are not as bankable as they once were, so this list must be pretty broad. I’d expect Stiller to be higher (Ferrell too, despite Land of the Lost). Ford makes sense though when you think about. Although he’s struggled in recent years, he’s one of the most bankable movie stars of all time and may have made the most money for studios when you consider the two trilogies he’s headlined.

I’m guessing this list only accounts for what they make from acting. Many of these people have their own production companies, resulting in a larger take after the movies’ grosses come in.

some actors aren’t expensive!(as Bale and Damon) and other actors aren’t cheap(Ford,Depp)

  • Captain N

This and the news that Indy 5 is looking to become reality (according to Lebouf) likely puts a smile on Ford’s face.

  • TOM CRUISE ALWAYS BANKABLE ,,,NEXT MOVIE OF CRUISE?

  • John

Rogen is the odd one out. Did I get it right?
Just doesn’t look right there amongst all that established A-list talent. I assume he had two films out this year but it begs the question where is Steve Carrell, Jack Black etc if Rogen is on this list.
All men… or am I missing something glaring. I’d heard
Kidman and Blanchett where both in the 20mil bracket but I can’t remember if they’ve had anything out in the last year.

  • Jack Black is a fucking idiot. Steve Carrell is right behind him. Seth Rogen is a comedy genius. Nicole Kidman was in Australia with Hugh Jackman that made me respect both of them a little less. The only reason Kidman was ever one of the highest paid actresses was because of Cruise. Cate Blanchett was in both Indiana Jones and The Curious Case of Benjamin Button. Blanchett should be banking.

  • Arthur

Makes sense he’s the top actor… Think of a movie he headlined where he, himself, wasn’t charismatic or entertaining?

  • Danny

Not much surprising here, but I’m surprised that Christian Bale isn’t higher up. After June 08 TDK was released and he was shooting Terminator at that point as well, he should’ve made more. He deserves it. Rogen is a hack and will soon be selling car insurance in Racita. Can’t believe Murphy is that high up on the list either. He hasn’t had a hit in a while, Meet Dave and this years Imagine That flopped.
