It Might Get Loud Trailer

Some of you may remember that one of Greg’s favourite movies of last year was a documentary called It Might Get Loud by Davis Guggenheim (An Inconvenient Truth). Starring Jimmy Page, The Edge and Jack White, the movie explores that mighty instrument of creative expression: the electric guitar. Although the movie didn’t actually get a theatrical release in 2008, Sony Pictures Classics will finally put it in select theatres on August 14th. The first trailer has arrived online courtesy of The New York Times; check it out below and see what you think.

The trailer makes this movie look great but it actuality it’s a plotless mess. Too bad really because it could have great.

Really??? I was so looking forward to this movie. I Love all these guitarists!

@ Jackson – Where did you see this movie?

I like the trailer, but it certainly gives off the air that the movie doesn’t have much to it. The concept is cool, though. Great guitarists from 3 generations of rock come together to make sweet, sweet tunes. If nothing else, I bet the soundtrack is pretty cool.

The movie kind of follows the guys around where they were mostly influenced in their youth. It has them together talking about guitar and playing.

No, there isn’t a lot to it…but there doesn’t need to be.

I’m a fan of all three. I was interested in everything they had to say and I thought it was awesome.

I agree with Greg. I think that the loose structure works in its favor. It has a very natural tone to it. After all, the point of the film is to give the sense that you are just hanging out with and gaining insight into the lives of these guys. If they weren’t interesting, then it wouldn’t work. Thankfully, that’s not the case. Plus, the opening scene is pretty awesome.
