The Shortcut Trailer: Adam Sandler’s First Horror Movie

Are horror movies still the easiest way to make a quick buck in Hollywood? Sure, the budgets are minimal and genre fans on the whole are a forgiving bunch, but with audiences starting to tire of the whole “torture porn” trend a few years back, you’d think most producers would be moving away from blood and gore. And yet it still seems almost impossible to not make a profit from a horror flick, which is most likely why Adam Sandler decided to get into the scary movie business with his new horror offshoot Scary Madison.
The trailer for their first official release, The Shortcut, has just arrived online, and boy does it look terrible. I guess we shouldn’t be surprised since it’s directed by Nicholaus Goossen of Grandma’s Boy fame. I’m willing to admit that it could just be a bad trailer, but something tells me this is going to prove beyond a reasonable doubt that it takes at least a little bit of talent to make a horror movie. Whether or not it will make money is a different story: eye candy provided by Andrew Seeley (Another Cinderella Story), Shannon Woodward (The Riches) and Dave Franco (Privileged), and Katrina Bowden (30 Rock) should be enough to attract at least a few viewers. Check out the trailer below and see what you think.
