I read the book after I learned they were making a movie of it. Can’t say I “enjoyed” the book – really, really downbeat. All the while reading it I felt it was an unmakeable movie basis. The trailer makes it look rather fast moving and exciting AND scary. That last gets it right. I hope I’m wrong about the unmakeable bit and I’m encouraged by the Esquire piece praising it highly. But, on the other hand, this long, long delay would seem to indicate somebody’s got some second or third thoughts. Here’s hoping!

I’m a massive fan of the book and from what this esquire review says below they stay very close to the source.

It looks like Charlize is only in one scene of the trailer so i imagine she dies early.

Did anyone else hear the Mortal Kombat scream at like 2:00??

Just remember before you dive in to the book expecting lots of explosions and action, it’s nothing like that, and if what I’ve read about the film is true and that it stays close to the source material, then the film is nothing like that trailer.

But I understand why they do it like that.
