Harold and Kumar Christmas Movie in the Works

After two relatively profitable stoner comedies, I think it was inevitable that we’d see another Harold and Kumar movie, despite the fact that John Cho and Kal Penn’s careers seem to be slowly moving away from these characters. Cho plays Sulu in J.J. Abrams’s Star Trek, while Kal Penn has now actually joined the staff of the Obama administration (yes, for real). Last year there was talk of a possible Neil Patrick Harris spin-off in addition to Harold and Kumar 3, and although we haven’t heard more about that, this week Warner Brothers has set a release date for something called A Very Harold & Kumar Christmas.

It remains to be seen if this is actually the official third Harold & Kumar film, or a different project, but either way it looks like it will indeed be getting a theatrical release. I’m sure fans of the series will be pleased to hear this. Personally I’m always up for any unconventional holiday comedies (Bad Santa anyone?) and I think this could be fun, even though I still haven’t seen the first two films. Still, shouldn’t Cho and Penn be looking ahead to better things instead of returning to this low brow franchise one last time? A Very Harold & Kumar Christmas is scheduled to hit theatres on November 5th, 2010.

That was the thing about the first one; it was an intelligent stoner movie, not a dumb one. The second one was forgetable, but the first one was great.

They are all great. They are rich because the made these movies. they are so dope and all u need to stop talking shit about this series!!!

  • The NPH spinoff movie would definatly have been the best movie ever, but as long as Neil’s in Harold and Kumar 3 I guess I’m happy :)

White Castle was one of the most intelligent stoner films ever made. It was incredibly clever and wry in a way most films, let alone most stoner films, will never manage. Guantanamo Bay was less impressive. It was traditional and standard in almost every way, although I’d say it was miles ahead of stuff like EuroTrip or the American Pies. If the third can recapture the magic of the first, then H+K will be cemented as a truly brilliant saga.
