Shia LaBeouf in Talks for Wall Street 2, Oliver Stone to Direct

Looks like heartthrob Shia LaBeouf is being courted to bring youth appeal to yet another ’80s sequel. Variety reports that LaBeouf is currently in talks to star in Wall Street 2 alongside Michael Douglas, with Oliver Stone already signed on to return to the director’s chair. Stephen Schiff (True Crime), wrote the sequel’s script originally, but Fox has since brought in Allan Loeb (Things We Lost in the Fire, 21) to do a rewrite.

LaBeouf will reportedly be playing a young trader who has a role similar to Charlie Sheen in the original Wall Street. As long as he’s not playing Gordon Gekko’s son, I suppose I’ll give it a chance. A sequel could be quite timely, based on all the current economic turbulence which is due in large part to Wall Street greed. At the very least, we can probably now assume that this won’t be just another throwaway direct-to-video cash grab. What do you think… does a Wall Street sequel have potential? Would Shia LaBeouf’s involvement help it or hurt it?

    politicians greed, not wall-street.

but i think that would be a great move to put in shilo in this movie. that will expand the viewing audience quite drasticly

I can’t stand that Shia LaBeouf is the new “IT” guy. I think he is a horrible leading man an has no personality. Luckily he’s always taking blockbuster piles of garbage (Indiana Jones, Transformers) so the film buries his lack of talent anyways.

This is a very interesting development. I think Shia is an interesting choice. I’d see it.
