Shia LaBeouf’s Hand Actually Injured in “Space Bridge” Mishap, Not Car Accident

In case you’ve been dying to find out the truth about Shia LaBeouf’s car accident from last year and his fabled hand injury, well gather round friends, because Entertainment Weekly has given us the full scoop. During a recent visit to the set of Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, they did some digging and found out that Michael Bay did indeed write the injury into the movie (note the bandaged hand in the above still). Although they had considered replacing his hand with CG, in the end it was decided it would be too difficult and too expensive. So instead he did what any sane action movie director would do: made the hero get his hand caught in a space bridge. Makes perfect sense.
In all seriousness, it does sound like the hand injury was pretty bad. The article says that Shia’s fingers may never fully heal, and that any further damage to them could have led to an amputation. But being the bad boy movie star that he is, he soldiers on. Did anyone catch the Transformers 2 Showest footage that’s been floating around out there? It keeps getting pulled down by Paramount, but it has some interesting stuff in it, like an old Transformer walking with a cane and Bumblebee crying. Actually you think I’m joking, but I didn’t mind the cartoony stuff. What are your thoughts?
