Paper Heart Trailer Starring Michael Cera and Charlyne Yi

Here it is, the full trailer for Charlyne Yi’s faux documentary/romantic comedy Paper Heart starring Michael Cera and directed by Nicholas Jasenovec. This movie won the Waldo Salt Award for Best Screenplay at Sundance this year, which is kind of ironic since much of the film was improvised. Charlyne Yi sets out to make a documentary about what love is and whether or not it truly exists, and along the way she meets Michael Cera and the two start dating. Of course, she is actually dating Cera in real life, which blurs the line between fiction and reality.
As you can see in the trailer, there are definitely real documentary elements to the film. There are interviews with professors, average Americans, and kids on a playground, all giving their thoughts on what love is. However, the relationship between herself and Michael Cera is kind of the centerpiece of it all, and if you don’t find them particularly funny, the movie probably won’t work for you. Thankfully, I find them both completely endearing, which is why I loved this movie. Paper Heart also features music written and performed by Yi and Cera. Check out the trailer below or watch it in HD on Apple.com and see what you think. Is Charlyne Yi going to be the next big thing? Paper Heart hits select theatres on August 7th.
