Everyone, I may be wrong but I thought Crowe was playing the Sherrif of Nottingham not Robin Hood, if so he’s perfectly cast. I could be wrong though?

That is a genuine English Longbow. (Not the ‘recurve’ bow which people are used to seeing in these movies but which is actually much later design…so the longbow seen in this shot may look ‘wonky’ because people are not used to seeing the genuine article. Crowe, with his usual attention to detail, has been practicing using it for months.

That Bow looks a little wonky… I’m not historian but is that what an English Longbow looked like? What about the fetching (did I make that word up?) on the arrows they look almost plastic they are so perfect…

Master and Commander is the bomb, near perfect film in my book

Crowe can play period real well, just look at “Master and Commander”. Even he’s not English, he can certainly do an English accent better than the Cost can. Crowe seems to love working with Scott, so there’s no doubt the chemistry itself will produce something good, we’ll see how accurate and realistic the historical re-enactment is, but if it’s more like “Master and Commander” as opposed to “Gladiator” I think it will do well. Besides, Robin Hood’s historical legitimacy is dubious at best, so there’s no reason why different interpretations of him as different kinds of characters couldn’t work.

Gladiator is overrated.
The Kevin Costner Robin Hood movie is AWESOME.

Crowe has the potential to be better but he just doesn’t strike me as a “nimble man of the forest.” I want to see a Robin Hood sprinting through the forest, scaling a tree and taking out a man on horsebook with a bow and arrow while hanging upside-down off the limb of a tree by his legs… all without breaking a sweat… and I don’t think Crowe can pull that off. He looks like a common thug, not a spry, wily, charming thief.

They should have cast me.
