Underworld Writer and Director to Adapt I, Frankenstein Comic

In case you haven’t noticed, comic book adaptations are a pretty big deal in Hollywood right now. It’s to the point where writers are almost better off turning their spec scripts into a comic book first before trying to sell it to a studio. That is the approach that actor/writer Kevin Grevioux has been taking as of late, and it seems to be working out quite well for him. Grevioux played the vampire Raze in the Underworld films, but he also co-created the Underworld franchise, and has since gone on to write a handful of comics including ZMD: Zombies of Mass Destruction, which is currently being turned into a feature film. Now his latest comic series I, Frankenstein has also been picked up, and the first issue hasn’t even hit stores yet.
I, Frankenstein is an upcoming Darkstorm Comic that takes classic movie monsters and transplants them to a contemporary film noir setting. It features Frankenstein’s Monster as a private investigator and Dracula as a crime kingpin, for example. Grevioux will write the script himself while Patrick Tatopoulos (Underworld: Rise of the Lycans) has signed on to direct. The production company, Death Ray Films, are the same people behind the upcoming horror-comedy War Monkeys. What do you think, does this sound cool?
