Chris Pine Hopes to Join The A-Team

I can’t say I was a huge A-Team fan as a child because I didn’t regularly watch the show. I did have an A-Team playset though, so I was familiar with the names of the characters and who they were. Let’s face it; you were pretty much an asshole if you didn’t know who Mr.T was in the 80’s. (I guess that makes my Grandmother an asshole.) Just recently I purchased the entire A-Team series on DVD and I’ve just gotten through the first disc of season one. Man this show rules. The action is top notch, the characters are fun and the premise supplies limitless opportunities for exciting episodic storytelling. I guess I’ll be sufficiently prepared to rip the upcoming A-Team movie an new A-Hole when it hits theatres. I’m foreseeing two options: 1. A goofy comedy a la Starsky and Hutch (I wouldn’t be totally against this) or 2. A lame, modern, over-the-top action thriller where everybody where’s black and the van is turned into a hummer. This would be shit. Above all, I think the most important aspect of this remake will be the casting.
According to the MTV Movies Blog Chris ‘I still have no idea who this guy is or what his abilities are’ Pine is interested in continuing to adapt beloved retro television characters for the big screen. This time, he’s got his eye on Capt. H.M. “Howling Mad” Murdock. Some seem to think this is an odd choice, suggesting that Pine’s good looks would best suit him to play the role of Lt. Templeton “Faceman” Peck, known for his attractive features and his ability to sway women into having intercourse with him in exchange for access to private jets or school buses. It also helps that Joe Carnahan — director of Smokin’ Aces, which apparently Pine had a role in — is helming this adaptation. It’s all about who you know, right? For those of you not sold on the idea of Pine as Murdock, here’s a little info to get you on board. Check this shit out, it will blow your mind off: As we all know, Chris Pine is playing Captain Kirk in the upcoming J.J. Abram’s Star Trek film. Some of you might also know that Murdock was originally played by Dwight Schultz, also known for his role as Lieutenant Reginald Barclay on…wait for it Reed…Star Trek: The Next Generation! He also reprised the role in Voyager and First Contact. It’s totally a sign. This would be perfect casting simply because of that small little connection between the two franchises. Chris Pine was born to play Murdock. In your face FACE!
