Monday Morning Box Office Report: Hannah Montana Outmuscles Vin Diesel

As expected, families flocked to theatres over the Easter long weekend to watch Miley Cyrus struggle with her pop star alter-ego Hannah Montana… a much more interesting proposition, apparently, than any of the other new releases on the big screen this week. The $34 million opening made it the second-highest Easter opening ever, behind Scary Movie 4. Fast & Furious and Monsters vs Aliens also did quite well, earning over $20 million each, while Jody Hill’s Observe & Report only managed a disappointing $11.1 million. As for Dragonball Evolution, the movie flat out bombed, debuting with just $4.65 million and little hope of expanding on that in future weeks.
