Moon Trailer Starring Sam Rockwell

A new poster and trailer have materialized online for Duncan Jones’s low-budget sci-fi film Moon. Sony Pictures Classics picked up this movie at Sundance this year and they are going to be giving it a limited release in June. The movie stars Sam Rockwell as an astronaut who is assigned to work on a moon base by himself for three years, with only an intelligent computer to keep him company. When strange things start happening around him, he is forced to question whether or not he is going crazy or if someone else is up there with him.

It’s interesting that when this movie played at Sundance, they seemed intent on keeping the movie’s big plot twist a secret, but now that Sony has picked up the film, they’re just giving it all away in the trailer. To be fair, I do think the trailer is very well-constructed, and it does maintain a bit of mystery to the whole thing. The new poster (which you can see in high-res over at Ain’t It Cool News) is also fantastic. Too bad I didn’t think the movie itself was quite as brilliant as everyone else did. You can read my spoiler-free review here; look for Moon in theatres on June 12th.

  • I’m loving this! Get a triple bill with 2001 and Sunshine and that’s all you need.

  • I am looking forward to seeing “Moon!” I am a big Sam Rockwell supporter. Duncan Jones will soon be on the list!
