Dragonball: Evolution Sequel Ready To Go?

With the release of the highly anticipated Dragonball adaptation less than a week away, rumour has it that a script has already been written for the inevitable sequel. Justin Chatwin, who from the advance footage completely embodies the character of Goku, says “I know they’ve written a second one and it’s pretty far out there. The second one really goes to some different places that I’ve never seen in any comic book adaptation.” Adding to the speculation, avowed Dragonball fan James Marsters has hopes that the series will eventually reach the majesty known as Dragonball Z, where his portrayal of Piccolo will hew closer to what most people would recognize.

I’m having a hard time gauging how Dragonball: Evolution will do at the box office. Normally I wouldn’t care, but considering there probably won’t be any more Dead Or Alive or Street Fighter movies for awhile, I’m hoping this does well enough to justify a sequel or three. While it seems like a safe bet to prematurely label this one a bomb, I wonder if the combination of a holiday weekend and hordes of Dragonball fans feeling compelled to visit the theatre won’t result in just enough juice to give a sequel the green light. Whether or not you’ve already written off Dragonball: Evolution, would you like to see the franchise continue, or should they stop here and reboot in a few years?

The only true “fans” who payed attention to this shit festival were people earning some kind of cut from the movie, people who love independent films, kids who were 12 and under. I was lucky enough not to spend a dime on this poor excuse for cinema and warn many others not to attend or give a dime to the bastards in charge of making this movie a reality. The audience who went and saw that shit stain on a projection screen are now dumber (especially those who found any remote enjoyment) for having to sit through a non-existent storyline rant that copyrighted the title and names of characters from a beloved anime.

    so it did kinda bomb. ok they tried, they did wat they could with the budget and we all know wat happens in movie adaptations. i hope that they make some sequels because the story gets better in the future.

    alot of people had complants about the movie like actors, costumes, ect……my biggest complaint was the lack of EPIC in the kamehameha….obviously im expecting a raging blast awesome….not something that would remind me of a sierra mist commercial

    i think all the people that are hating on this movie are so dumb because why the hell would they make the movie just like the cartoon it would be so fn retarded come on its dragon ball mixed with more our time. you cant expect bulma having full blue hair or anything like that it would be way wack! its just that these people hate on everything they see come on its not gonna be the same as the cartoon but you know what i loved this movie it was funny how goku was in high school ha and the whole movie was great funny and fun the only thing i think was bad was that it did not have enough funding which i hope the next one will for sure!

    people are saying dbz evolution sucked why because they tried a new spin for the new generation if you wanna see a movie they severly screwed up where they in similar plots but couldnt do the main story right try Earagon that pissed me off more than dbz evo did I hope they can try to correct some of the minor details that should of been corrected I loved the origanal anime i wished they had brought krillin in it sooner and kept some of the origanal occurences like bringing in the red ribbon army

    whoever made the movie knows nothing about dragon ball why is goku so old and turning SS? why is goku a white guy he is asian! why does everybody look like crap start from the dragon ball then go DBZ then go GT with 6 movies not just make one and make a crappy movie! if your gonna make it make a franchise out of the movies and have GEORGE LUCAS MAKE THEM HE CAN MAKE IT FELL MORE LIKE DBZ AND NOT LIKE A CRAPPY MOVIE! were they just bunched all the chracters into one movie of crap!

    HAVE THE PRODUCERS EVEN SEEN THE SHOW????

    this show (DBZ,DB,GT) is better then lord of the rings and star wars so make the movies like it!
