Fame Remake Trailer

Here you go, folks, it’s the moment you’ve all been waiting for… the first teaser trailer for the remake of the classic ’80s dance movie Fame! Are you as excited about this movie as I am? Not only is it another story about kids overcoming obstacles in life through the use of killer dance moves, but it’s chock full of nostalgia too!

To be honest, the only thing I remember about the 1980 movie and subsequent TV series is the theme song. That’s all you really need… and yep, they’ve got that in the teaser trailer. So I’m pretty much sold. I just wish the trailer would have shown more of Kelsey Grammer popping and locking. Director Kevin Tancharoen previously had a bit role in You Got Served, and directed some episodes of the Dance Life and Pussycat Dolls reality shows. This is going to be amazing. Fame hits theatres on September 25, 2009.

  • Your joking, right Sean?

  • I’ll admit, I got shivers when they started into the theme song. Nostalgia is a dangerous thing.

  • Neil M

Nope. He is dead serious. I’m preeetty good at detecting sarcasm, and this article is bone dry.

  • I prefer to leave this post open to interpretation. What did you get out of it Drew?

Alarm bells should be going off when a studio gives a prestige remake to some guy whose resume peaks with a few episodes from the Pussycat Doll’s series. Either the studio is seriously stupid or they couldn’t land a suitable director and went with whoever was left on the list that had ANY genre related experience. I mean wouldn’t somebody like Rob Marshall (Chicago) or Bill Condon (Dreamgirls) make more sense? The first movie worked because it was a serious drama with music and dancing.

Having now seen the trailer, this looks like any other forgettable, breezy, low budget dance movie that has come out in the last decade. It would appear that the studio is content to coast on the name. How disappointing.

  • What is this “Fame” exactly? Jumping around to music in leotards?

  • i truly cant wait till the movie come out and the girl who plays alice is reall cool , and i heard that she was in son you think you can dance!!!!!!!, thats my favorite show and yeah . CANT WAIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Sean,

I’m a little late in replying to your inquiry but all I saw was them trying to update the old movie to cash in on the High School Musical phenomenon
