Ramis Confirms Ghostbusters Passing The Torch

During a chat about his upcoming comedy Year One, Harold Ramis was grilled by MTV concerning his most hotly debated project; the third Ghostbusters movie. While he didn’t have a whole lot of information to give up, Ramis did confirm that the original Ghostbuster crew would return, but only as mentors to a new team.
I know that this was practically ensured already, but this puts the last nail in the coffin for those holding out hope that the old-timers would be taking the Ecto-1 for one last spin. I’m just impressed that they’re showing respect by acknowledging the original cast at all and not going with a remake. I know that idea may seem inconceivable to some of you, but let’s face it, Hollywood has shown a remarkable tendency to shamelessly neuter its past successes with reboots. Even with that business out of the way, we still have the casting to look forward to, and with Penn, Del Toro and Carrey picked for the Three Stooges it’s anyone’s guess who could be the next Ghostbusters.
