Monday Morning Box Office Report: Monsters and Aliens Destroy Everything

Well despite some early concerns that there may not be enough theatres ready to show Monsters vs Aliens in 3-D, the movie still managed to open in a over 4,000 theatres (1,500 of them equipped with 3-D technology). It was a huge success, notching the third-highest opening weekend ever for a movie in March. The Haunting in Connecticut also did quite well even without any big name stars (aside from Virginia Madsen), earning $23 million. Knowing was #3 with a strong second weekend, while 12 Rounds had a pretty terrible opening, debuting at #7 with just $5.3 mil. I guess all the wrestling fans decided to save their money for the Wrestlemania pay-per-view.
