Film Junk Poll: What is the Worst Comic Book Movie?

I guess I should say right up front that this week’s poll topic isn’t directly inspired by the release of Watchmen this weekend. I fully expect Watchmen to come closer to being one of the best comic book movies ever made than the worst, but there seem to be a lot of different opinions out there so far. At any rate, there have been more than enough terrible comic book adaptations over the years and it’s time to pick a winner! There are many other suitable options that wouldn’t fit on the poll, but go ahead and cast your vote and then feel free to discuss further in the comments below.

  • Thankfully I have only seen 3 of these… and it was three too many. And people say I rip on comic book movies unfairly. Here are 10 good reasons why it’s not unfair to bash comic movies.

  • Nice rationale. What are the types of film that don’t have 10 horrible entries?

  • Haven’t seen Elektra (and imagine that its horrible) so I cast one for The Spirit. Sorry Frank. The Spirit was the 2nd movie I ever walked out on. Its possible to sit through all the others except Catwoman; but The Spirit was pure garbage.

    Hmm I wonder where Daredevil, Ghost Rider, Dolph Lundren’s (sp?) The Punisher are. Yea, there were only ten spots for the poll. I know you kinda liked Daredevil, Sean, but I thought it was crap. I however liked Judge Dredd a lot when I was a kid.
    “I am the Law!” Come on. That’s classic.
    For me it was a tossup between Batman & Robin and The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen. Even though they were both horrible, B&R is in a class of it’s own with an unmatched level of cringe-inducing campyness, uberlame catchphrases, the benippled batsuit, and the brightest and most cheerful atmosphere in a Batman movie since the 1960’s Batman.

  • ALL of these movies suck! Yes, I am ashamed to say that I’ve seen all of them. Especially Catwoman and Elektra.

    Hollywood does NOT know how to make a female superhero movie, and I think it’s sad!

    I’m sorry, but with Steel up there, none of the others even come close, not even Catwoman.

    Matt: I certainly considered all of those but I tried to vary up the list a bit and include some older stuff. And as bad as Daredevil may be, I’m pretty sure Elektra is worse (I haven’t seen it). I wouldn’t have included Fantastic Four personally, but I figured some people might want to vote for that.

    I always really liked Judge Dredd and don’t get why it is considered to be a bad movie? Also Daredevil isn’t THAT bad, it was pretty entertaining for what it was. However Elektra is absolutely horrible.

    Of all these films I’ve not seen Steel but Catwoman reigns over all with its shittyness.

  • It is pretty amazing just how many of these darned things there are. I’ve not seen many, but boy-oh-boy was LEAGUE OF EXTRAORDINARY GENTLEMAN craptacular.
