New To Theatres This Weekend: Jonas Brothers: The 3D Concert Experience, Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun Li, Crossing Over

There isn’t really anything that stands between the Jo Bros and 3-D box office success this weekend; the only other major new release is Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun Li, which, by all accounts, is a terrible, terrible film. However, some of this year’s Best Picture nominees are re-appearing in theatres, including The Reader which is finally getting the wide release it deserves. In select theatres, we have the U.S. immigration drama Crossing Over starring Harrison Ford. All in all, probably a good weekend to stay home and re-read Watchmen. Will you be checking anything out?

  • Hopefully I’ll be hitting up Clockwork Orange tonight and The Story of Ricky on Sunday, with a Jack Hill/Pam Grier double bill of The Big Bird Cage and Coffy in-between. I’m saving Chun Li for cheap night, because nothing beats watching an action movie while surrounded by my fellow carnies.

  • I bet the new Street Fighter will be shit. By the various clips available, it looks as bad as the Van Damme one, but without the comic relief of that one.

  • If Quentin Tarantino or similar type director did their favourite Street Fighter / Mortal Kombat character I think that would rock.

Even though Chun Li was my “Chosen One” back in the days of pumping quarters at The Bijou (formerly on Welland Ave in the movie theater that was there).

  • Oops….I think this movie will tank aside from the miscasting….almost as bad as that Mila Kunis as Mona Sax.
