Will Ferrell and Mark Wahlberg to Star in Adam McKay Action-Comedy B Team

If you’re one of the people who thought Step Brothers and The Happening ran neck-in-neck for the funniest movie of last year, you’re probably going to want to pay attention to this. Will Ferrell and writer/director Adam McKay (Anchorman, Talladega Nights) are currently in the process of setting up their next project, and it looks like it will be an action-comedy called B Team. The movie will find Will Ferrell teaming up with Mark Wahlberg as cops! I’m loving the sound of this already.

I suspect the inspiration for this film may have been the Seth Rogen/James Franco action-comedy Pineapple Express, and with any luck this will be the start of a whole new wave of comedic action flicks and buddy cop movies. The script for the film is being written by Chris Henchy, who also wrote the upcoming Will Ferrell movie Land of the Lost along with a couple episodes of the Mark Wahlberg-produced HBO show Entourage. Henchy also had a bit part in Step Brothers. Normally I’d be worried by the fact that McKay and Ferrell aren’t writing it themselves, but in this case, it sounds like a good fit. B Team is currently being bid on by several studios, and should have a home by the end of the week. Hey, maybe they can even time the release so that it goes head to head with Joe Carnahan’s A-Team movie.

On a somewhat related note, Will Ferrell’s final George W. Bush Broadway show You’re Welcome America will be airing live on HBO on Sat. March 14th!

    could be great.

Also, Sean, is it more or is Will Ferrell projects the only things that you consistently seem optimistic about.
