S. Darko Trailer Starring Daveigh Chase

Deny it all you want, but the direct-to-DVD Donnie Darko sequel is coming, and this weekend we’ve got the official trailer to prove it. The previous teaser that has been making the rounds is made up of footage from the first film, and for all I know is probably fan-made, but rest assured this is the real thing.

I guess they’re kind of looking at this like The Butterfly Effect franchise (which spawned two direct-to-video sequels), but of course, Richard Kelly is not involved — not even as a producer. One can only wonder what he must think of the whole thing. S. Darko focuses on Donnie’s younger sister Samantha (played by Daveigh Chase) and her own visions of the impending apocalypse. I’ll admit that if I didn’t know this was a trailer for a Donnie Darko sequel, I might actually be interested in it… of course, I would have no effin’ clue what this movie was about either. Hey, at least it’s got those weird bubble tube trails in it. What do you think, does this trailer change your mind about the project? S. Darko hits stores on April 28th.

  • Slushie Man

    Looks good to me.

  • AH HAHAHAHA HA HA HA

    oh man. yeah, no.

but that trailer did make me weirdly want to go buy a my chemical romance album.

  • Oddly enough this reminds me of Verbinksi’s THE RING, perhaps due to Daveigh Chase playing the psycho girl in that film…

  • Looks alright. Atleast not as bad as everybody has been telling it would be, the effects are atleast above Direct-to-DVD material I’d say.

  • You know you all are going to watch it anyway, even if you say it’s dumb.
