Jay and I caught Matt Aselton’s directorial debut Gigantic at the Toronto Film Festival last year, and I think I liked it more than most. Still, even I had to admit that it was a bit of a stereotypical indie “dramedy”, and it kinda dragged at points. Paul Dano plays a young mattress salesman who is planning on adopting a baby from China, when he meets Happy (Zooey Deschanel), the carefree daughter of one particularly rich customer. John Goodman and Edward Asner both have amusing turns as the fathers of both of the main characters, while Zach Galifianakis plays a creepy homeless dude (or does he???). It looks like Gigantic will finally be getting a theatrical release courtesy of First Independent Pictures; it hits select theatres on April 3rd. Check out the trailer below and see what you think.
