It was a toss up between Cronenberg and Carpenter, a decision any horror fan should not be forced to make. Still, I voted for The Thing.

Really, really liked The Thing when I was younger. And I’ll admit The Ring and The Grudge each scared me. But they don’t hold a candle to the fun, speed, horror and comedy of The Dawn of the Dead remake. When the camera pulls up into that aerial shot at the beginning to reveal all the destruction and fires and general chaos, I got chills and knew the movie would fulfill its end of the bargain.

I really like the Dawn of the Dead, TCM and Hills Have Eyes remakes. Effective in their own way.
But I put my vote down for The Thing.

Come on, these jokers don’t stand a chance against The Thing and The Fly. You gotta redo this with just the newer crop, then it’ll get more interesting. I’d vote for Zack Snyder’s Dawn of the Dead.

Invasion of the Body Snatchers 1978 is a GREAT movie and so is The Fly. THe Thing is really good and so is Dawn of the Dead. The Blob is really good but has been forgotten and Hills Have Eyes very effective. Actually alot of really good remakes here.

Ok…the THING and the FLY better be in the top 2, followed by Invasion and the blob, but…The Grudge? Halloween? TCM? are we kidding?…garbage…total garbage.
