Neil Patrick Harris Donning Tights for The Flash? Probably Not.

From Dr. Horrible to… The Flash? There’s a wacky little rumour circulating the web this week about some potential casting for The Flash live action movie. Although Ryan Reynolds has long been established as the front runner for the lead role in the film, it seems that there may be a couple of other names under consideration ever since they hired a new writer for the project. One is Scott Porter from the Friday Night Lights series, and the other, apparently, is Doogie Howser himself, Neil Patrick Harris. This has got to be a joke, right?
The source of the rumour is a site called Think Mcfly Think, which seems pretty sketchy, and there is no mention of NPH in the article. However, Porter did apparently audition for the role of The Flash in the Justice League movie (even though Adam Brody ended up landing it). Also, we know that David Dobkin (Wedding Crashers) is supposed to be directing The Flash, who has a background in comedies.
Here’s something interesting though… what if they’re both right? According to the synopsis on IMDB, both Barry Allen and Wally West will be involved in the film. Personally I still don’t think Warner Brothers would risk casting NPH, especially after all the outrage over a possible Jack Black Green Lantern movie, but then again, The Flash is known for his sarcastic witticisms. What are your thoughts on either of these choices for The Flash? Would you want to see a comic book movie with a comedic spin?
