Weekly Poll Results: Best 3-D Movie

It remains to be seen just how well the 3-D release of Henry Selick and Neil Gaiman’s Coraline will be received this weekend, but according to our poll from last week, The Nightmare Before Christmas is currently the best 3-D movie to come along thus far. Friday the 13th, Part III came in second (and is just now available on DVD for the first time in its original 3-D format), while the recent release My Bloody Valentine 3-D was a close third. Robert Zemeckis’ Beowulf, which was highly praised last year, held down the #4 position, and Hitchcock’s Dial M for Murder rounded out the top 5.
I think the question coming away from this is: what makes a better a 3-D film… an all-out thrill ride filled with special effects gimmicks, or a subtle 3-D enhancement to a movie that also works in 2-D?
