Jason Reitman to Produce The Wedding Starring Jesse Eisenberg

Ever since the runaway success of Juno, Jason Reitman has been a pretty busy guy. In addition to his next directorial gig The Air Up There uh… I mean Up in the Air, he has also taken on the role of executive producer for a handful of projects including the Rainn Wilson ninja comedy Bonzai Shadowhands. Now we can add another one to the list: Reitman is developing another comedy with the help of his producing partner Daniel Dubiecki called The Wedding. And hey, if they’re smart, they’ll come up with a slightly less mundane title for the flick too!
The Wedding is being written by Max Winkler (Clark and Michael) and will star Jesse Eisenberg (The Squid and the Whale) as a young man who becomes smitten with an older woman, and then decides to crash her wedding in order to profess his love for her. The older woman will be played by Anna Friel (Pushing Daisies). Admittedly, there’s not much else to go on as of yet (there isn’t even a studio attached so far), but the casting sounds perfect and I’m glad to see Eisenberg lining up yet another gig. I’m looking forward to seeing him in Greg Mottola’s Adventureland, which I’m hoping we’ll be able to catch at Sundance next month.
