I’m picking up Chungking Express… just don’t know when.

  • Bottle Rocket and Third Man blu ray are nowhere to be found either. Got Chungking Express though.

  • blackmothra

i got both planet terror and death proof on bluray from bestbuy.com (instore pickup) for $50.00 (US)

  • Yes, I should clarify that the Death Proof/Planet Terror delay is only in Canada.

  • blackmothra

ps – im looking forward to the scratch-free “restoration” of planet terror .. i think the fake print errors went alittle too far, so it might be interesting to see it without that stuff.

I loved The mummy. I really like action movies more then anything. Most girls would say they like chick flicks but i am into the ass kicking movies. I really like it when action movies get straight into the action unlike horror movies they usually take awhile to get into the actual good parts of the movie. I am definitely not a scary movie fan and boys dont even think about poping one of those in if you want to get close because i refuse to watch them and if i do i am usually sitting up straight bitting my nails. Isn’t that what every girl is doing when watching a scary movie or slowly sinking into the couch to get as far away from the tv as possible. One of my favorite movies is the skeleton key because the ending is so good i know there are a lot of those cheezy scary movie effects but the ending makes up for it all. Usually the people die but not in this one there is a twist. I also liked eagle eye it was exciting and it never stopped. And their was anticipation the whole movie. I just hope that everyone has a great holiday and gets everyone the gift they were hoping for for the holidays because we all know it is embaressing when the person doesn’t like your gift. It just creates and akward situation for all.

Hmmmmm…I wonder how the Blu-ray transfer of Into the Wild compares to the HD DVD version. I kind of want to re-buy it, but then I wont really have any reason to keep my HD DVD player hooked up!

Jay, I’d like to hear your comments on the Criterion bluray (and it’s transfer quality). If you save it for a podcast, that would be great.

Planet Terror/Death proof for $50 is a little high, IMO. I think $40 for both is more reasonable, like the kill bill vol 1/2 on amazon. Though I can’t criticize since I just imported Swing Girls on bluray for nearly $50 itself. :/

i got “bottle rocket” and “man who fell to earth” last night

criterion’s interface is minimalistic and kinda sexy.
the bit rate for the menu (30.0 mbs) is higher than some WB discs.
    and the movies look gorgious.
all special features in high def.
even the anamorphic film test on “bottle rocket” looks amazing.
really setting a benchmark for other distributers.

  • I ended up resorting to Amazon. Although when I ordered, it said I wouldn’t receive them until after Xmas. However, they shipped early this week, so I’m hoping that’s just a safeguard they put up for anyone waiting for time specific packages.

anyone looking for Generation Kill in Canada should head to Zellers of all places – ten bucks cheaper than I’ve seen anywhere else 49.99 vs. 59.99 and up.

  • I ended up price matching mine to Zellers. BONUS.

So I ordered Bottle Rocket, The Third Man, Death Proof and Planet Terror on blu ray from Amazon.com on Wednesday. They said I wouldn’t receive them until after Xmas. To my surprise, they arrived today! That’s basically a day and a half wait. Crazy.
