This Week on DVD: The Dark Knight, Horton Hears a Who, Man on Wire

Well I think we all know what the biggest release of the week is, and considering the infinite number of different collector’s edition versions, you’ll have to think long and hard about where you want to purchase The Dark Knight. Other major releases this week include the well-received CG flick Horton Hears a Who!, one of the best documentaries of the year in Man on Wire, and the fourth season of Lost. Also, if (like myself) you have never seen HBO’s Deadwood or The Wire, now’s your chance to pick up the entire series of both in one fell swoop (although I can’t say if that’s actually the most economical way to go about it). What are you picking up this week?

The Dark Knight (DVD, Blu-ray)
Horton Hears a Who! (DVD, Blu-ray)
Man on Wire
The Man Who Came Back
The Elder Son
I Am Legend: Ultimate Collector’s Edition (DVD, Blu-ray)
Werner Herzog: Three Short Films
Flow
Lost: Season 4 (DVD, Blu-ray)
Swingtown: Season 1
Gunsmoke: Season 3, Vol. 1
Rawhide: Season 3, Vol. 2
Happy Days: Season 4
Dragon Ball GT: Season 1
Deadwood: The Complete Series
The Wire: The Complete Series
Dodgeball (Blu-ray)
Dumb & Dumber (Blu-ray)
Jet Li’s Fearless (Blu-ray)
The Mask (Blu-ray)
Super Troopers (Blu-ray)

I’ll pick up Man on Wire if I see it at Best Buy when I get the Dark Knight. It is going to be easy to get?

  • My local Blockbuster (downtown Toronto) said if you but TDK today it’s only $17.99 – not bad. I’m sure that will a popular gift for Christmas this year, if people can wait that long!

I’ll add Man on Wire to my queue

I got the steelcase Dark Knight and Lost s4 today. The Wire set will be a gift for myself at a later date.

Anyways that reminds me, Greg said there was a second version of Batman Begins on DVD. Yes and no. There was a new package and it included some flash drive with Dark Knight shit on it, but otherwise it was the same thing, not a different dvd. Thats why if you pick up that set you’ll notice its pretty light. a lot of filler in that box.

  • No love for Irma Vep?

    dark knight… amazing movie!!!!
My first pick. Great special effects,
with THE best joker, to date.
Not so sure about batman though. Could have done without the clint eastwood… dirty harry voice….

  • Weird, the sites I usually check for DVD releases didn’t have Irma Vep listed. I also missed the Europa Criterion release.
