We’ve got a new teaser trailer this week for an indie comedy that premiered at Sundance way back in January called The Great Buck Howard. The movie stars John Malkovich as a washed up mentalist who still dreams of making it back to the top. Colin Hanks plays Buck’s naive young assistant, while Tom Hanks also co-stars with his son, playing his disapproving father in the film. The trailer is fairly short, and although it didn’t quite sell me, the concept sounds like it has potential.

The supporting cast includes Emily Blunt, Steve Zahn, and real-life sleight of hand expert Ricky Jay. The one questionable component is writer/director Sean McGinly, who up until now has been stuck doing mainly direct-to-video fare. Perhaps this will be his breakout hit? Magnolia Pictures picked up the movie back in May and seem to be aiming for an early 2009 theatrical release. Check out the trailer below and see what you think.
