The Weinstein Company has just issued a brand new trailer for Fanboys to go along with the shiny new poster and photos that they released last week. I don’t think this is the first trailer we’ve seen for this movie, but to be honest, it’s been so long that I really don’t remember anymore.
In general, I don’t have much to say about it. It’s a comedy aimed at Star Wars fans. A lot of the jokes and cameos are a bit too predictable, but I’m sure its target audience is going to eat it up. In a weird way, the fact that it has taken so long to get to theatres could actually be an advantage because a lot of the cast members are bigger stars now than when they originally shot it. From Jay Baruchel to Kristen Bell, Craig Robinson to Danny McBride (who isn’t even listed in the cast on IMDB), these people just might have enough name recognition to convince some non-geeks to see it. Still, when your trailer is forced to hype up the small cameos more than the actual stars, the movie might end up being a pretty hard sell. Fanboys hits theatres on February 6th, 2009.
