The Weinsteins Delay Killshot Yet Again

Some movies just weren’t meant to see the light of day, but you know, it’s hard to believe that a movie produced by Quentin Tarantino, directed by Academy Award-nominated filmmaker John Madden, based on a book by Elmore Leonard, and starring Mickey Rourke, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Diane Lane, Rosario Dawson and Thomas Jane would fall into that category. Nevertheless, the upcoming Weinstein release Killshot has been in the works for 3 or 4 years now, and it looks like we’re all going to have to wait a little longer before we get a chance to see it (if we get a chance at all).
Last month we posted the Killshot trailer (which didn’t look all that terrible in my opinion), and the movie was scheduled to finally be released on November 7th. But now, for some unknown reason, the movie’s release date has once again been quietly pushed back to sometime in 2009. It could be that they’re waiting for critical buzz from Mickey Rourke’s performance in The Wrestler to generate interest in Killshot. But a lot of people have been talking about the fact that Harvey Weinstein is going through a pretty tough month, and he really can’t afford to take any risks with the movies he’s putting out. Still, he should have some surefire hits coming up with Kevin Smith’s Zack and Miri Make a Porno and Cormac McCarthy’s The Road right? But wait a minute, The Road is supposed to be out on November 11th and we still haven’t seen a trailer for it. What’s up with that?
