Sad news folks, it looks like another screen legend has left us this week, as Paul Newman passed away on Friday at his home in Westport, Connecticut. There had been rumours floating around recently that he was battling some type of cancer, and apparently they were true. He was 83 years old.
There is little doubt that Newman’s career was an amazing one. He won an Oscar for The Color of Money in 1986, but was nominated for numerous others. Some of his most memorable films include Cool Hand Luke, Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, The Sting, Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, and of course the Film Junk favourite Slap Shot. Most recently he provided the voice for Doc Hudson in Pixar’s Cars, and was set to reprise the role for Cars 2. He was also known for his Newman’s Own brand of salad dressing and many other products, the profits from which he donated to charity. The man will most certainly be missed.
