Hancock Sequel On The Way?

Everyone’s seems to be buzzing this morning about the confirmation of an I Am Legend prequel, which I already thought was a done deal, but apparently it wasn’t until now. Francis Lawrence has signed on to direct, and D.B. Weiss (Halo) will be writing the script.

Something I hadn’t heard previously, however, is a rumour coming out of Dark Horizons about a sequel to another Will Smith blockbuster, Hancock. They don’t have much information other than to say they heard it from a reliable source, but like any Will Smith box office hit, a sequel doesn’t seem that surprising. The question is, what version of Hancock will we see… the comedic first half, or the dead serious second half? Which one would you rather see?

  • For a second I thought that eagle over his shoulder was his animal spirit, and that I had seen a version sans eagle. I would watch Hancock again if he had an eagle for a sidekick.

Man, whatever tone they decide to make the next movie, it should be continuous the whole way through. I think the comedic first half is definitely the way to do it, if you want this movie to stand out. Also they should make it good, which would be nice.

the better question is are they doing this sequel to make more money or to actually to do it right this time? They wasted an up-and-coming director, and three respected actors on the first hancock

  • I had no interest in seeing the first film after the trailers gave away most of the plot… I think I’d ignore a sequel.

  • The dramatic twist didn’t bother me too much (perhaps that is because this is one of the few cases where I listened to the Film Junk podcast first so I had a warning).

It would be best to settle on dramedy perhaps?

  • I loved the first one! I hope they make a sequel.. I love will smith as a blunt sarcastic funny asshole lol my type of man..

I sincerely hope a sequel comes out. I want to see more adventures play out with the darkly humorous Hancock as the lead role. I think one reason why ppl didnt like this movie is because they were expecting it to follow the recent ‘spoof movie’ trend. despite what you may have been mislead to believe by previews or trailers, you must admit that the movie had a good plotline that successfully combined comedy, drama, and a little romance quite nicely. Cant wait

I thought the frist movie was very well written ,& hope to see a sequel soon. Will Smith has always been amoung my top ten actors ,& fits the part like a glove.
Although a sequel has to be thought out carefully if you want it to be a sucsess.
