Quentin Tarantino Presents: Killshot Trailer Starring Thomas Jane and Mickey Rourke

Looks like another one of Elmore Leonard’s crime novels is about to hit the big screen courtesy of executive producer Quentin Tarantino. Killshot is about a couple who are entered into the witness relocation program, only to be tracked down by the very hit man they have implicated. I’m not sure what Tarantino’s involvement in this movie is specifically, but we know that he’s a huge Elmore Leonard fan, having previously adapted Rum Punch for his own movie Jackie Brown.

Director John Madden is the guy who did the Oscar-winning film Shakespeare in Love — in other words, not necessarily someone you’d expect to see directing this. The cast is interesting, to say the least. It includes Thomas Jane, Diane Lane, Mickey Rourke, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Rosario Dawson and Johnny Knoxville (yes, Johnny Knoxville). With this strange assortment of talent, the movie has been kicking around since 2006, and was originally supposed to go straight to DVD after suffering from poor test screenings. However, it seems that The Weinsteins and MGM had a change of heart and will now release it in theatres on November 7th. Are they just desperate for a fall release, or is it actually decent? It’s hard to tell from the trailer, and the “Quentin Tarantino Presents…” banner doesn’t mean much nowadays. What do you think, is Killshot worth checking out?

  • Matt

Mickey Rourke – Mickey Rourke is back, baby. And he’s better than ever.
Thomas Jane – He could do a lot worse. And in the past he has.
Diane Lane – Meh. She’s alright.
Joseph Gordon-Levitt – Have no Idea who this is, but will IMDB so sooo hard
Rosario Dawson – Yes. She’s very underrated and hot as hell.
Johnny Knoxville – He’s great as long as he doesn’t try to act and only plays himself. If not, it’s actually painfull to watch him (ie Men in Black II.) Even more than being run over by a golf kart.

  • Quentin Tarantino presents: Some Ol’ Bullshit

I dunno, seems like they give away a lot in the trailer, right? Looks like there’s going to be a lot of ‘killshots’. Mickey Rourke does look like he’s going to be a sweet bad ass in this movie. Johnny Knoxville looks completely out of place though.

  • Primal

There is only one John Madden in my eyes.

  • fizzle

    hahahahahaha

  • I read the book a couple of years ago. Unfortunately I can’t remember very much about it at all. If I correct one of the bad guys in it is kinda like Anton Chigurh from No Country For Old Men. It was a decent book, pretty slim though. I’d give the movie a go on DVD.

  • “Same old bullshit”? Fuck you!

Joseph Gordon Levitt and Mickey Rourke! In the same movie!
Rourke and Diane Lane, reunited! Rosario Dawson!

    This is gonna be tits!

  • Rusty,

I said “SOME Ol’ Bullshit” and I was mostly joking. Quentin Tarantino puts his name on a lot of stuff these days. Not much in the trailer stood out for me except Mickey Rourke.

  • I saw a trailer for this movie somewhere online at least a year and a half ago, if not longer. I was wondering if/when it would ever be coming out. Looks entertaining.

  • Yeah, I read one and a half Elmore Leonard books (admittedly because Tarantino has expressed his love for them through Jackie Brown and interviews) and everything he made pre-Kill Bill was so obviously informed by them.

This could be solid but Johnny Knoxville is surprisingly terrible at acting. Other than him it’s a pretty nice cast.

“Quentin Tarantino presents: Some Ol’ Bullshit’
    Srsly.
