Monday Morning Box Office Report: Sept. 15, 2008

The Coen Brothers took the box office crown for the past weekend, with what I am guessing is their biggest opening weekend ever. Burn After Reading took in an impressive $19 million, thanks in large part to their Academy Award-winning status and the faces of Mr. Brad Pitt and George Clooney, no doubt. Tyler Perry once again proved to be a consistent box office draw with his latest film The Family That Preys, and Robert DeNiro and Al Pacino still managed to generate a $16 million opening for Righteous Kill. The Women earned $10 million despite horrible reviews, and for some reason The House Bunny was the biggest earner out of the movies that were already in theatres previously. Tropic Thunder and The Dark Knight are slowing down but continue to sell tickets, while Bangkok Dangerous, Traitor and Death Race rounded out the top 10.
